How does God get to you when you’re at the end of your ropes?

According to Google, an average adult makes about roughly 35,000 decisions in a day. That’s a whole lot. From mundane things to big decisions in life. No matter what the status is, an average human always has something to decide.

That also means that the probability of making wrong decisions might be close to half of it. After all, were just human and prone to errors and more often than not, we condemn ourselves that we should’ve been wiser, or we should’ve been more in control of things.

But can we really?

God’s territiorial control is not limited to the things we do try to manage our way out. He can still recover and restore, even the most disastrous pieces in our lives.

Ezekiel 36:26 (my newest favorite verse) says thisI will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

The verse describes Israel’s rebellion and how God’s great design to restore and bring them back to Him was prophesied.

I don’t know about you but that sounds restoration to me. Surely we cannot buy a new heart from Amazon or anywhere else, but God can give it to us with a freebie of a “new spirit”.

Question 1 : But what did Israel do to gain this favor from the Lord?! Was it from merit?

No. Israel did NOTHING.

Obviously, they had to suffer and be scattered as a nation but the story doesn’t end there as God gave his prophetic promise of rebuilding and restoring it for the sake of His name.

Question 2 : What did Israel do and why did they suffer?

It was a consequence for their past sins and rebellious acts. Does it sound familiar? Even in our modern times, this is still how God disciplines us, His children. Not to condemn us, but to redeem us.

Another verse is Joel 2:25“I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.”

The verse here describes the severity of the damage caused by the invasion of the locusts on Israel’s crops.

In the same way, this is a symbolic representation of our sinful nature when we let our thoughts, our actions and life be governed by the enemy.

But the preceding verse reassures the hope mentioned in Joel 2:25, “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.”

Question 3 : Why does Israel need to fall back to sin and get delivered by God again and again?

This could have a lot of interpretations but my honest opinion on it is the same reason why we fall back again and again to sin. Our Free Will.

This is the direct result of our weakness as humans but also with God’s covering of Divine faithfulness.

So even if we fall back to the same cycles of fear, oppression and struggles; even if we feel like drowning from our problems, if we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we can be confident that He will rescue us in time of need.

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.” — Psalm 91:7

Not in some situations, not in a conditional way. But in all ways, always. <3

As the song goes…

I see it all now, how your hand, you were faithful (never failing), Even when i thought, I really thought the darkness won, then you showed up.

Prayer

Lord, Thank you for your redeeming work on the cross for my sins. Humble my heart and cleanse it from any known and unknown sins. May you give me discernment and wisdom on any decisions in life I would have to make for me and my family. Help me to fix my gaze on You. Help me to think of things that are pure, noble, holy and true as many counterfeits have been lurking around me. I plead the blood of Jesus over my life and each of my loved ones. Protect us from the schemes of the enemy and bless our lives so we can reach out to many that still don’t know you.

We seal this prayer in the mighty Name of Jesus.

Amen.

I would like to share what I thought about Question 3 : Why does Israel need to fall back to sin and get delivered by God again and again?

    • Because they have a human heart. And human heart tends to forget. When life is comfortable it tends to forget, we tend to drift away from God.

Somehow I see Israel’s repeated fall and getting back a great representation of ourselves. When we are in bad situations or circumstances we tend to remember God even pray non-stop, but when our prayer is answered and life is comfortable we suddenly forget.

But we saw through Israel that God is faithful, and grace is not a one-time gift.

Thank you for explaining it well, Angela!

Indeed, our futile minds and hearts tend to forget the faithfulness and goodness of God.

That’s why we also need to be thankful for the low moments in our life because it can act as holy ground, a place to remember all of his faithfulness in our lives, and an opportunity to rekindle the intimacy we had forgotten with Him.
